Centre

2012

Waterjet cut and fused glass

200 x 104 x 4 cm

Centre, a façade modelled on a historically contested high-rise building in London, is a large-scale cut and assembled glass sculpture consisting of over 4000 unique parts. The innovative process behind the work is the use of waterjet cutting on kilnformed glass to create low relief surfaces, fused together using precisely controlled kiln firing.

Muscles and Muse

2013

Screenprinted and kilnformed glass

100 x 70x 1 cm each

Two lovers, a Filipino bathing beauty and an English body builder, are divided by distance and a beaded glass surface that pixellates each image. Whilst easily readable from a distance, the image breaks up as the viewer approaches each portrait.

Flitter

Flitter

2015

screenprinted and fused glass

144 x 90 x 1 cm

Questioning perceptions, the work conflates an eyed hawk-moth with a common blue butterfly, creating a hybrid that oscillates as the viewer moves.

Slither

Slither

2013

Screenprinted, cut and fused glass

130 x 89 x 1 cm

Inspired by lenticular imagery, the grossly enlarged image of a common garden snake appears and disappears as the viewer approaches the work, allowing it to ‘slither’ along the wall.

Emotional Leak

2011-14

Waterjet cut glass, steel, rubber

400 x 130 x 130 cm

Collaboration with Erin Dickson

Based in North East England, the artists share a fascination with cultural and emotional connections to architecture. In Emotional Leak, the artists have produced the physical manifestation of a slowly leaking roof. Inspired by water, the resulting form is a four metre-tall black monolithic sculpture, made from stacked glass layers to resemble a digital gothic architectural model.
